Moen WARM|FRONT™ Hot Water Starter - Eco-Friendly

An Easy Way to Conserve Water.
WARM|FRONT™ Hot Water Starter

There are a lot of great ways to conserve water, but the easiest is to install a WARM|FRONT. Without changing your way of life, you use significantly less water within a year's time. WARM|FRONT saves enough water to fill an average-size swimming pool.

Household Water Waste

Each year the average household wastes more than 12,000 gallons of water running the tap needlessly. That translates into significant dollars needlessly spent on water and sewer bills. Check our math:

  • The average home over 2,000 square feet has 125 feet of 3/4 inch pipe.
  • 125 feet of 3/4 inch Type L copper pipe holds 3.14 gallons of water.
  • 10 draws per day wastes almost 31.4 gallons of water.
  • Over a year, the waste equals 11,461 gallons.

More Tips on Conserving Water

  • Dishwasher

    • Run your dishwasher only when full. You could save 1,000 gallons a month.
    • Use only one glass for your drinking water each day. This will reduce the number of times you run your dishwasher.

    Garbage Disposal

    • Compost instead and save gallons down the drain every day.

    Kitchen Sink

    • Soak pots and pans rather than letting the water run while you scrape them clean.
    • Wash your produce in the sink or a pan that is partially filled with water instead of running water from the tap.
    • If your dishwasher is new, cut back on rinsing by hand. Newer models clean more thoroughly than older ones.
    • When washing dishes by hand, don't let the water run while rinsing. Fill one sink with wash water and the other with rinse water.

    Cooking

    • Cook food in as little water as possible - retain more nutrients.
    • Be choosey about the size pan you cook with. Larger pans require more cooking water than may be necessary.

    Refrigerator

    • Keep a pitcher of water in the refrigerator rather than running the faucet and waiting for cold water.
    • When ice cubes are dropped from the freezer to the floor, salvage them for use in your potted houseplants

    Washing Machine

    • Running your washer only when it's full could save you 1,000 gallons a month.
    • Match the water level to the size of the load.
    • If buying a new washer, choose a new water-saving model that saves up to 20 gallons per load.
  • Shower/Bathtub

    • If your shower can fill a one-gallon bucket in under 20 seconds, then replace the showerhead with a Moen flow-optimized showerhead. Easy to install, and can save more than 500 gallons a week.
    • Time your shower to keep it under five minutes. You'll save up to 1,000 gallons a month.

    Toilets

    • Make sure your toilet tank lever doesn't stick open after flushing.
    • Drop tissues in the trash instead of flushing them.
    • Put food coloring in your toilet tank. If color seeps into the toilet bowl, you have a leak. It's easy to fix, and you can save more than 600 gallons a month.
    • Install low-volume toilets.

    Bathroom Sinks

    • Turn off the water while brushing your teeth, shaving and lathering hands and you can save more than 100 gallons a week.
    • Teach the children to turn the faucets off tightly.

    Pets

    • Use old water in your pet dish to water your houseplants.
    • Use old fish tank water for your plants... it's a free and effective fertilizer.

    Repairs & Renonations

    • Install low-flow aerators on all faucets.
    • Install water-softening systems only when necessary. Save water and salt by running the minimum number of regenerations necessary to maintain water softness.
